COLLINGWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Gillshill Primary School is a very popular and oversubscribed school in the East of the city and is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Children, staff, parents and Governors have high aspirations and work happily together to achieve high academic, creative and social standards across all areas of school life valuing the shared experiences of childhood. Performance at the end of Key Stage Two has, over the past six years, been exceptional with attainment in 2014 again being well above national expectations.
Our main aim is to provide all our pupils with a broad, balanced, well planned curriculum with access to a rich variety of first hand experiences and the opportunities to participate in many short and extended visits. The school has a number of Specialist Leaders in Education, who provide school to school support across the city. Gillshill has an excellent track record for the training of new teachers working with a number of providers to develop exemplary teachers.

Healing School is an 11- 16, average sized secondary school in a rural setting. The school was rated as “Outstanding” in the Ofsted inspection of 2009. The school is regularly oversubscribed and has approximately 875 pupils on roll. Teaching staff in all Faculty areas are subject specialists. The school is fully staffed with well qualified teachers, Teaching Assistants and Learning Mentors. Attendance is significantly above national average with an improving trend. The proportion of students with learning difficulties / disabilities is below average. There is an extensive range of extra-curricular activities.
Healing School works in partnership with both Hull University and Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln to develop a training programme which suits the needs of trainees and the local education context. All our students benefit from an induction programme, an enrichment placement, expert mentoring, development of subject knowledge in school and a second school experience. We also offer help and guidance to would be trainees in the application and interview process.

OASIS ACADEMY HENDERSON AVENUE
Oasis Academy Henderson Avenue is situated to the north of Scunthorpe town centre. Built in 1913, work has just begun on a total rebuild – due to open in 2016. The school has a long and illustrious history: actress Joan Plowright, the golfer Tony Jacklin and England football manager Graham Taylor all started their schooling here. We are an inclusive Academy for children aged between 4 and 11, committed to delivering first-class education and playing an active role in the local community.
The largest primary school in North Lincs, we have places for 588 children with 78 in our Nursery. We are strongly committed to school- based teacher training and delighted to be a lead school working in partnership with North Lincolnshire SCITT. We believe that ‘training on the job’ is the best way to learn the craft of teaching and are proud of the teachers we have trained and employed via this route.

Sirius Academy is an outstanding school (Ofsted 2014) located within an award winning £48.5 new build. During the last 3 years Sirius Academy has successfully trained over 75 new teachers. Every new teacher has gone on to gain employment either at the academy or at another school. Sirius Academy has played a leading role in delivering School Direct, Teach First, PGCE and previously GTP courses.
The academy works closely with our Yorkshire and Humber Teacher Training to quality assure the training each new teacher receives. This includes moderation meetings and joint observations as well as regular reviews of progress against standards and targets set. Sirius Academy has also been involved in the recruitment and selection of ITT candidates for many years and has a wealth of experienced mentors with a proven track record of producing outstanding teachers.

ST MARY’S COLLEGE
St Mary’s College is a welcoming, successful and vibrant 11-19 co-educational Catholic comprehensive school. The school has a large Sixth Form and is also a specialist Sports College. Judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, the school regularly tops local league tables for its GCSE and A-level examination results.
The school has excellent facilities, including three sports halls, and a brand new theatre. THE AXHOLME ACADEMY
The Axholme Academy is a small, rural, 11-16 mixed comprehensive that aims to achieve excellence in all aspects of school life. The academy is very successful and was judged by Ofsted to be good with outstanding features in November 2013. Our students are well-behaved and respond enthusiastically to staff who value and show a real interest in them. Both students and staff work hard and contribute to a really positive atmosphere and ethos in the academy.
There is a real mix of well-established and recently appointed colleagues at all levels in the academy and they are fully committed to doing their best for all our students. We invest heavily in staff development and provide excellent induction and ongoing support for new colleagues. We have worked with Hull University for many years and have an excellent track record in recognising the potential in trainee teachers and developing this to maximum effect.
